The Sunflowers feature golden blooms in vases, set against radiant yellows and deep blues, exuding energy and movement. At Bohanna Art we wanted to state, with our interpretation, and in our own way, how inspiring this classic piece of art is. The delicate layers of watercolour, in all it many subtle shades, seemed translucent to me, like coloured glass. It seemed to tell its story with translucency. So we wanted to travel into this world, experience its light and shapes, move the perspectives to be able to enter this other world. Then revel in the beauty of the multiple views, never seen before.

Anthony van Dyck’s 1633 portrait of Charles I captures the regal splendor of the Stuart king, showcasing his power and authority. Charles is depicted in rich attire, his gaze both commanding and reflective. Van Dyck’s skillful use of light and shadow adds realism and depth, making the portrait almost lifelike.

The painting also reflects the close bond between the artist and monarch, with Van Dyck shaping Charles’ public image as a noble ruler. Yet, there’s a hint of vulnerability, foreshadowing the civil war that would lead to Charles I’s downfall.
